Sr. Project Manager for New Product Development

The Sr. Project Manager for New Product Development will ensure projects will meet design performance requirements (internal & customer), business goals, and schedule. The ideal candidate has proven experience in providing direction, leadership and development of and for assigned staff, which may include direct reports and/or other assigned resources.
Must be eligible to work on defense and other programs subject to ITAR regulations; candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card).

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops high-level plans to meet both project and product cost targets; monitors progress and takes appropriate corrective actions as required; reports progress to appropriate management levels; responsible for generating & maintaining cost models and validating the accuracy of all cost inputs for proposals and existing projects
  • Develops and oversees the progress of project plans that meet the required customer and/or internal milestones, specifications, and product cost goals, within project budget and staff assignments; responsible for ensuring known and/or potential risks are identified and mitigation and retirement activities are incorporated into the project plan. Incorporates the documented project management process into all projects
  • Updates and monitors project plans regularly and reports to management on progress; ensuring that problems and issues are dealt with in a structured manner using accepted problem solving techniques and root cause analysis and that appropriate corrective actions are taken
  • Monitors staffing levels against project progress and recommends changes as necessary to meet commitments. Ensures assigned resources are effective and efficiently utilized. Manages and develops direct reports; provides feedback to responsible functions for assigned resources
  • Aids in the development of Project Management Engineers (I & II) by providing coaching, guidance, and training as assigned or required. May have direct reports such as Project Management Engineers, Coordinators, Technicians, or Co-ops
  • Complies with and supports company policies and programs regarding safety, security, ISO, EEO, OSHA and the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct

  • Capable of developing effective plans, identifying & understanding risk and making effective use of available resources
  • Capable of leading a team through structured problem solving technique resulting in correct identification and resolution of root cause
  • Able to juggle multiple tasks and make quality decisions without negative impact on others
  • Uses his/her own and others' expertise to make effective and timely decisions; gathers key information and knows when to escalate problems
  • Pursues learning opportunities to expand related knowledge and understanding; willing to try new things and take risks to expand understanding
  • Shows solid understanding of the product's operation and key performance parameters, as well as the processes and materials used to manufacture responsible products; basic understanding of the customer's application and key performance parameters; must be able to facilitate a technical review
Required Experience:

Education: Bachelor of Science Degree - Electrical Engineering with concentration in RF/Microwave preferred; Engineering degree is a minimum requirement
Experience: 6 - 8 years of relevant experience in Product Development; Technical Project Management experience, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant (RF) product design or equivalent development experience
