Parts, Materials & Process Engineer II

The Parts & Materials Process Engineer is responsible for assuring that all aspects of program requirements are addressed and met through the design and manufacturing stages. The ideal candidate must be capable of working independently and as part of a design team where he/she contributes by understanding and communicating customer requirements related to the selection of electrical components, metallic and non-metallic materials, and processes to the design and manufacturing teams. Typical tasks include data collection, data formatting, executing test plans, generating technical reports, performing analyses, data table maintenance, and drawing generation. Other tasks may be assigned based on business needs. This individual must be capable of managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Must be eligible to work on defense and other programs subject to ITAR regulations. Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card); Ability to obtain security clearance.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Basic understanding of military and space customer requirements for the selection and use of electrical components, metallic and non-metallic materials and processes
  • Ability to select and specify parts that comply with program requirements
  • Ability to accurately complete assignments by assigned deadlines
  • Review requests for new components to verify program requirements are satisfied
  • Review Bills of Material (BOMs) for new designs or design changes to identify components that are obsolete, mature,and/or noncompliant with the product or program requirements and work with the design team to find suitable alternatives
  • Create drawings consistent with Anaren internal standards and program requirements
  • Perform material characterization and analysis with respect to the study of electronics hardware failure mechanisms
  • Maintain qualified component, materials, and processes libraries and required data packages
  • Ensure use of standard, qualified parts when possible
  • Support design engineering, new product development teams, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain in resolving parts, materials, or process issues
  • Ability to interface with customers and subcontractors to assist in development of requirements documents
  • Prepare for, and participate in, internal or customer product design reviews as required
  • Position may require travel to support failure investigations
  • Effectively participate in configuration control board meetings, as necessary

  • Ability to effectively convey pertinent information verbally and in writing to engineers, customers, and vendors to convey/negotiate requirements and resolve issues
  • Ability to work well within a group as well as independently to perform tasks
  • Ability to multi-task and handle simultaneous assignments/tasks while producing quality work
  • Strong structured problem solving skills and can effectively participate in root cause analysis
  • Ability to make sound logical decisions and justify decisions/actions
  • Strong commitment to lifelong learning, willing and able to learn new skills
Required Experience:

Education:  Bachelor of Science Degree - Engineering, Material Science or related technical discipline.

Experience:  6 - 8 years of relevant experience; experience with space-level requirements and programs are required.
