Each year, Anaren holds its Community Service Day event -- this year, on Friday, August 7 -- which enables all Anaren employees to spend a paid workday contributing to area charities and social resources.
"This is just our chance to give something back to our community, even if it's painting rooms, repairing railings, or helping out in a kitchen for the morning," said Anne Savage, Administrative Assistant to Anaren's executive staff and one of the event's overseeing managers. "It also brings together employees who may not routinely work alongside one another in the average workday."
Organizations visited by Anaren Community Service Day teams this year include: - Biship Grimes Jr/Sr High School - Food Bank of CNY - Francis House - High Esteem's Camp Goodwill - Make-A-Wish Foundation - Meals On Wheels, North Syracuse - Onondaga Lake Park - Rescue Mission - Ronald McDonald House - Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse - Sarah House - Rosamond Gifford Zoo - St. Camillus - The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area - Susan G. Komen for the Cure - Vera House - among others...
The event concludes with a company picnic, featuring outdoor sports, water balloons, and lunch; employees also receive their annual profit sharing bonuses on the day.
