AIR Applications
AIR modules are an exceedingly easy-to-work-with, reliable, and high performance method of bringing wireless capability to a wide range of applications (especially those based on Texas Instruments' popular MSP430!) A few specific applications are listed in the table below, but be check back soon: The AIR team will be expanding this library of application-specific and general application information, development tools, and software support to make it easier than ever to deploy AIR modules in your particular application.
AIR INFO & TOOLS FOR SPECIFIC APPLICATIONS |
|
| Energy-management Systems: AIR modules are not only energy-saving in their own right (our low-power RF chips require very little power to operate) -- they are very well-suited for wirelessly connecting devices and equipment playing a role energy management systems. (Examples include wirelessly connected smart appliances, smart meters, sensors/thermostats, among other system components.) Check out the Anaren/Tesla Controls developed AIR solution for products targeted to the ZigBeeStandard. | |
| Sensor Networks: AIR modules are a fit for a wide range of sensor, monitoring, and data acquisition networks. Whether the data being communicated relates to vibration, humidity, temperature, or any other variables -- and regardless of whether the network structure is a simple point to multi-point, star configuration, or complex (and self-healing) mesh network -- ask the AIR team what AIR module is best for your unique circumstances and variable-set (eg: range, available power, bit rate, etc.) AIR@anaren.com | |
| Industrial/commercial-grade Remote Controls: Combined with the push for flexible factory floor layouts (aka: manufacturing cells), today's overall emphasis on plant productivity and efficiency are driving the need for wireless data collection and control. AIR modules are a powerful ally for any OEM looking to add wireless functionality in the industrial or commercial environment, especially given their easy implementation (limited RF experience required), cost-saving pre-certification to applicable standards (FCC, IC, and ETSI), and compatibility with Texas Instruments' popular MSP430 microcontroller platform. The AIR team is ready to help you select the right module for your intended plant environment. | |

Transportation: AIR modules are useful to engineers developing short-range, wireless solutions for automotive, rail, trucking, public-transport, forklifts, and other transportation-related contexts... Particularly if project goals include aggressive energy conservation (eg: battery-only power, recharging, etc.) -- or an elegant way to achieve simple, RF-based on-board duties such as intermittent monitoring, sensing, or control. |

Lighting/HVAC/other Building Systems: For both new construction (where future flexibility is critical) -- and retrofit projects (where running wire is impractical or even impossible) -- AIR modules provide an exciting, cost-effective option. Applications include radio-actuated lighting controls, thermostats, HVAC/R system components, and security. |
